A new year usually calls for a new wardrobe. It also usually means the Christmas tree has to come down, along with all of the twinkling lights and sparkling ornaments hanging from its branches.
But the good news is, you still get to keep some shimmer and shine in your closet — at least for now. This trend is still here, and it isn’t going anywhere for a while.
In the world of apparel, we’ve got sequins, beads and metallic fabrics in large doses. Forget less is more. More is more. Don’t be afraid to sparkle brightly on New Year’s Eve and well into January. Allover sequin tops and dresses, bead embellishments mingled with pretty lace, metallic jackets and glittery pumps — these are a few of our favorite things.
If you’re not ready for all-out sparkle, then take it slow. Apply a little shimmer to your eyes, cheeks and lips. We’ve got eye shadows, blushes and glosses a-plenty, so take your pick! Makeup is a little different though; less really is more, here. Enhance your naturally beautiful features, but don’t overpower them with too much color, shimmer or shine.
